About
High Port Capital is an investment and operating company built on the premise that the best investment decisions come from firsthand experience with technology. We don’t just read decks and listen to earnings calls—we run the infrastructure, use the products, and operate the systems.
What We Do
Sovereign Technology
We believe organizations should own their core infrastructure. Run it yourself, fix it when things break, and do it for a fraction of the cost of managed services. We set up systems that you control, understand, and can maintain.
Informed Public Market Investing
Our investment edge comes from operational due diligence. We gain insight by using products, operating technology to accomplish specific tasks, and cutting through marketing hype. This ground-truth reality allows us to concentrate capital into much better informed bets.
Technology Strategy Consulting
We take on limited consulting engagements on retainer, focused on technology strategy. Whether it’s navigating infrastructure decisions or evaluating vendor claims, we provide counsel grounded in real operating experience.
Practical AI Adoption
AI consulting engagements targeting what really works with the current state of the art. We help organizations adopt AI capabilities that deliver value without breaking the bank.
In-Silico Simulation
We use computational simulation to compress timelines and de-risk expensive, long lead-time physical processes. When experimentation in the real world is slow or costly, we model it first.
Our Approach
We operate a portfolio business strategy, developing small SaaS tools that target steady cash flows in underserved or abandoned markets. Our marketing and distribution strategy centers on word of mouth and sponsorship of open source projects we believe in. Through strategic, returns-driven software development, we unlock growth and new markets—not just for ourselves, but for the public companies we invest in.
What’s up with the name?
On traditional Unix systems, you don’t need root privileges to open up a service to listen on a high port number.
In the spirit of promoting permissionless innovation and broadening access to the benefits of technology, we thought it appropriate. It also sounded cool so we just went with it.
